How to unfollow everyone
on Instagram.

Short answer

There is no bulk unfollow. Instagram has no button for it and no setting, so the only route is one account at a time — and the app throttles you long before you finish.

What Instagram actually offers

The closest thing to a bulk tool is the Following list itself, where each account has its own button. Instagram groups the list under "Least interacted with" and "Most shown in feed", which helps you find candidates, but every removal is still one tap and one confirmation.

The rate limit is the real ceiling

Instagram limits how many follow and unfollow actions an account can take in an hour and in a day. Go past it and the app stops accepting the action, usually with a generic error, and in some cases the account is temporarily restricted from following anyone at all. The limits are not published and they move, which is why no tool can promise you a number.

What the mass-unfollow apps really do

They automate the same taps you would make, either by driving the app or by calling the private API with your credentials. Both break Instagram’s terms, both need your password, and both trip the same rate limits. The accounts that get restricted are usually the ones that ran a tool overnight.

The safer version of the same goal

Sort by least interacted with, work through it in short sessions over a few days, and stop when the list reflects what you actually want to see. Nothing is lost by going slowly: an account you unfollow is not notified either way.

Related questions

Is there a button to unfollow everyone at once?
No. Instagram has never shipped one, and the lists that let you multi-select are for removing followers on some account types, not for unfollowing.
Will people know I unfollowed them?
Instagram does not notify them. They can see it if they check your profile or their own follower list.
How many can I unfollow per hour?
Instagram does not publish the number and it changes. Treat a few dozen per hour as the point where errors start.
Can a tool do it without my password?
No. Anything acting as you needs to be logged in as you, which is exactly the risk.

See what you are about to clear out

Before you start tapping, read the list once: most people find that what they wanted to remove is a few dozen accounts, not the whole thing.
