Why other methods fail
Third-party apps that promised live follow notifications relied on private access that Instagram shut down years ago. Sorting the following list by date only works on your own account. Screenshots need you to remember what was there before. A snapshot comparison from public data is slower than a live feed, but it is the approach that does not break and does not need anyone's password.
What it does not do

Can I see who someone recently followed on Instagram for free?
The first snapshot and its analysis are free. Weekly change digests are part of a subscription, because they require repeated checks over time.
Does it show the exact date of each follow?
No. Instagram does not expose that publicly. LikePatrol shows which accounts were added or removed between two weekly snapshots.
Does this work on private accounts?
No. A private following list is only visible to approved followers, and LikePatrol never logs in as anyone.
